For children, "occupation" means the meaningful activities of childhood: learning, playing, eating, and participating in family and school life.

Facets Therapy provides in-home pediatric occupational therapy in Kyle, Buda, San Marcos, and parts of the greater Austin and Hays County area in Texas. All therapy sessions take place in your home, backyard, or community setting — wherever your child is most comfortable and where the skills they're learning will actually be used.

How is in-home OT different from clinic-based therapy?

Accepted Answer

In-home occupational therapy delivers sessions in your child's actual environment — their bedroom, kitchen, backyard, or neighborhood. This means skills are learned and practiced exactly where they'll be used. Research shows children often generalize skills more quickly when therapy happens in familiar settings. In-home OT also eliminates the stress of clinic visits, reduces family travel time, and allows parents and caregivers to actively participate in every session — which leads to better carryover between appointments.

What happens during the free consultation?

The free consultation is a 20-minute phone call with DeeDee Irwin, the licensed OT who will work with your child. You describe your child and your concerns. DeeDee listens, asks questions, and gives you an honest recommendation about whether in-home OT is a good fit. There is no commitment required. Most families leave the call with a clear next step — even if that step isn't working with us.

Does Facets Therapy accept insurance?

Accepted Answer

Facets Therapy is a cash-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. After each session or evaluation, we provide a superbill — an itemized receipt with the standard billing codes your insurer requires — which you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Many families receive partial reimbursement this way. We're happy to discuss what to expect during your free consult call.

What ages does Facets Therapy work with?

Facets Therapy provides pediatric occupational therapy for children from birth through age 18. This includes infants who need positioning support and developmental guidance, toddlers with early developmental delays, preschoolers building school-readiness skills, and school-age children and teens working on handwriting, sensory regulation, feeding, fine motor, or self-care.

What does a pediatric OT evaluation include?

A Facets Therapy OT evaluation is a 90-minute in-home session with DeeDee Irwin, MOT. She observes and assesses your child across multiple developmental areas — fine motor skills, gross motor development, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, feeding and oral-motor skills, self-care, and play skills — depending on your concerns. The evaluation concludes with a written report that includes findings, a clinical impression, and recommended treatment goals. Parents and caregivers are active participants throughout.
